William "Randy" Randall
Collins
January 4, 1961 – March 18, 2026
William Randall “Randy” Collins, 65, of Pittsboro, went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026, at UNC Hospitals Hillsborough Campus Hospice surrounded by loved ones.
Randy was born on January 4th, 1961, in Chatham County to Benjamin Payne and Doris Teague Collins. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish Randy’s memory is his wife of 27 years Kathy Burrell Collins of the home; his daughter, Christina Chriscoe and her husband, Chris of Sherrills Ford; his brother, Ronnie Collins and his wife, Lana of Siler City; his grandchildren, Christa Chriscoe and Caleb Agnew; four nieces and nephews, Matthew and Jacob Collins and his wife, Rosanna, and Sarah and Emily Harvey; his sisters-in-law, Diana Harvey and her husband, Bill, and Tami Burrell, both of Weaverville; his mother-in-law, Amanda Honeycutt of Weaverville; and several cousins but one special cousin, Donna Weaver of Siler City.
Randy enjoyed a highly successful high school football career, being one of the most sought-after recruits in the ACC when he graduated. After receiving many offers, he chose to attend Duke University on a full football scholarship until a serious neck injury shortened his football dreams. He graduated from Elon University with a double major in business administration and history as well as having teaching certifications. He coached football and/or taught at Fuquay Varina, Graham High School and Jordan Matthews High School for 14 years. His final years before retirement were with Tri-Arc Food Systems in restaurant management.
Randy felt very fortunate to have grown up with a closely knit family who believed in giving back to the community. What was most dear to his heart was the love he experienced with his many childhood friends which continued to his death. Randy’s foremost calling in life was to mentor young people to maximize their potential and to feel they had a caring adult in their lives. Randy was a gentle giant with a heart of gold.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 21st, 2026, at 2 pm, at First Baptist Church in Siler City. Reverend Bob Wachs and Reverend Toddy Brooks will be officiating the service. Burial will be on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, at 2 pm, at Love’s Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Siler City.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice House and UNC Hospitals Hospice Hillsborough Campus for all their care for Randy. They would also like to send a very special thank you to Pat Lynch for her special care and help with Randy.
Smith & Buckner Funeral Home will be assisting the Collins family.
