William Harvey Gaines

William Harvey Gaines, 89, of Goldston died Monday, April 15, 2019.

Mr. Gaines was born in Chatham County on August 13, 1929 the son of William Donald and Madie Mae (Gaines) Gaines. Harvey had worked in maintenance at Townsends Hatchery and Siler City Mills. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers and tractors, playing cards, trips to the mountains and watching baseball, but he was devoted to his family. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gracie Mae Frazier.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Frances (Gunter) Gaines; three daughters: Patricia G. Lemons and husband, Larry of Siler City, Judy G. Brooks and Jackie G. Andrew both of Goldston; one son: Randy Gaines and wife, Lisa of Bear Creek; six grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Gaines Grove Cemetery, Goldston with Pastor Mike Garner officiating.
