Vernon Elwood Harris

Vernon Elwood Harris, 80, of Pittsboro, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, June 14th, 2025, surrounded by family.

Vernon was born in Chatham County on May 8th, 1945, to the late Hadley and Alice Stuart Harris. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, R.G. Harris.

Vernon worked in the lawn and garden department at Walmart before he retired. He loved gardening and working outside. He was a member of the Silk Hope Fire Department for several years. Vernon loved picking and laughing with others. He never met a stranger. Vernon was an active member of South Fork Friends Meeting and loved his church family. He will be missed by all that knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Chris Harris of Pittsboro; his daughter, Tammy Harris of Siler City; and his granddaughter, Ashley Harris.

Graveside service will be held at South Fork Friends Meeting in Snow Camp on Monday, June 23rd, 2025, at 2 pm. The family will receive friends and family after the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The services will be officiated by Andrew Needham and Daniel Thames.
