Treva Foster Watson

Treva Lee Watson, 95, of Bear Creek, passed quietly at UNC Hospital Chapel Hill of a stroke on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

Born on May 28, 1927, the daughter of Bert and Nonne Foster in Sanford, NC.

Treva attended Sanford High School where she graduated in 1945. She married Benjamin N. Watson in 1946, where they settled on the Watson Farm in Bear Creek and started their family. She worked for several years as Magnetti Marelli in Sanford until she turned 78. Treva was a fabulous cook and enjoyed her time in the kitchen. In addition to her parents, Treva is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin N. Watson, and her son, Michael Watson who passed in 2016.

She is survived by one son, Benny Lee Watson and wife Karen of the home; and one daughter, Rebecca Watson of Sanford; daughter in law, Jackie Watson; sister, Lillian Barnes who is 103 years old living in Winston Salem; nephews, Bruce Watson of Raleigh, Jonathan Watson of Greer, SC, and Phillip Watson of Goldston, Herb Watson of Winston Salem, and Bert and Hugh Barnes, both of Winston Salem; nieces, Kathryn Waters of Raleigh, Vivian Dickerson of Cantonment, FL, Kay Dowd of Roswell, GA and Judi of GA; and 3 step grandchildren, Bobby Hendrickson, Kim Atkins, and Larry Saunders; and step great grandchildren, Justin and Dillon.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 N. Second Ave., Siler City. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Goldston Methodist Church, 185 Hillcrest Ave., Goldston, with Rev. Kerry Wood officiating.
