Teresa Dawn Smith Kearns, 59, of Silk Hope, passed away at home on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, surrounded by family.

Teresa was born December 18th, 1966, to the late Settie and Ezzie Hilliard Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Mark & Jimmy Smith.

Teresa loved cooking and eating meals with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved doing puzzles and being outside. Her life was going to church and celebrating the Lord. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 19 years, Jeffery Kearns of the home; her sons, Taylor Dowd of Asheville, and Brandon Kearns of Bear Creek; her daughters, Amber Kearns of Silk Hope, Danielle Rodiek and her husband, Wes of Blythewood, SC, Hannah Overman and her husband, Elijah of Liberty, and Charity Kearns of Silk Hope; her sister, Sharon Elkins and her husband, Lynn of Silk Hope; and her grandchildren, Alyssa, Christina, Lydia, Elyse, and Kylie.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, at 2 pm, at Community Baptist Church in Siler City. A visitation will be held from 1-2 pm at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery after the service.
