Rev. David Hicks, 73, of Bear Creek, went home to see his Lord on Friday, November 7, 2026.

David was born in Asheboro, North Carolina on June 24, 1953, to the late William Harvey and Beulah Mae Caviness Hicks. He Loved the Lord with all his heart. He served Him for over 40 years as a minster. David loved his church and church family. He was a people person, it was natural for him to make people smile at his bubbly personality. Even when he was down he would manage to uplift others. He was a tinker, he enjoyed working on all things. He thought he knew a lot about computers; he always had one taken apart. Being outside mowing or working on his lawnmower was one of his biggest joys. In the last few years David had taken an interest in photographing nature whether it was a bird, the fresh snow, or just the colorful leaves to share with his family.

David is survived by his son, Adam David Hicks of Bear Creek; sisters, Phyllis Dickerson of Greensboro, and Kay Hicks of Goldston; brother, Ray Hicks of Goldston. He was preceded in death by parents, brother Dwight Hicks, and sister, Doris Jeannette Blackmon.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM with the burial following in the church cemetery with Rev. Derek Nipper officiating.
