Richard Carl Smith

Richard Carl "Little Richard" Smith, 52, of Siler City died peacefully Saturday, December 24, 2016 at his home. Mr. Smith was born in Chatham County on December 30, 1963, the son of Edward Gene Smith, Sr. and Emma Jean Clark Smith. He was employed by Walmart, and previously employed with Mastercraft for 20 years. Richard was a member of Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church where he served on the Session and Cemetery Committee. He enjoyed working on cars and in his yard. Richard was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Troy D. Smith. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joyce Talbert Smith, mother: Emma Jean Clark Smith, of Siler City, daughters: Ashley Smith and boyfriend, Austin Ritch and Autumn Smith both of the home, son: Zachary Smith and wife, Salena of Sanford, brothers: Edward G. Smith, Jr. and wife, Cheryl, Tony Smith and wife, Shari, and Mitchell Smith, all of Siler City, granddaughter, Emily. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday December 28, 2016, 2:00 PM at Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church, 1225 Mt. Vernon Springs Road, Siler City with Rev. Troy Lesher-Thomas officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
