Ray Winfred Smith, 96, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, at Heartland Living & Rehab in Greensboro, surrounded by loved ones.
Ray was born in Chatham County on October 18th, 1929, to the late Willie & Laura Adcock Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Nelson Smith.
Ray was an Army veteran that served in the Korean War. After which he received a degree in accounting. Ray then became the owner operator of a real estate development company where he worked until he retired. In his spare time, he loved a good round of golf, playing tennis, and auto racing. Ray was a native of Chatham County. Ray loved his family, spending time with them, and making memories.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Patricia Rice Smith of 44 years of the home; his son, Greg Smith and his wife, Susan of Myrtle Beach; his grandsons, Hunter and Nicholas; his stepson, Lewis Fadely of Siler City; his step grandchildren, Morgan Keefer and her husband, Austin of Liberty, and Jennah Fadely of Indiana.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 26th, 2026, at 11 am, at Oakwood Cemetery in Siler City.
