Ray Dean Spivey 58, of 7815 Kivett Farm Road, Staley died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at UVA Hospital, Charlottesville, VA. Mr. Spivey was born in Haywood County on November 6, 1953, the son of Arthur S. and Dorothy (Vickers) Spivey. He was employed with National Quarry Service and had worked for B C & D Associates, Inc and East Coast Drilling. Ray enjoyed fishing, grilling out, cooking and mechanics. He attended Charity Baptist Church and was a loving grandfather. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, P. J. Spivey. He is survived by one daughter: Wanda Spivey of Charlotte, NC; two step-sons, Timmy Curry and Wayne Hill; two sisters, Helen S. Burgess of Brevard, NC and Lela S. Bowman of Haw Rive, NC; two brothers, Ronnie Spivey of Pittsboro, NC and Richard Spivey of Siler City, NC; fiancée, Cynthia N. Perez of Staley, NC, and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, September 10, 2012 from 6:30-8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City with Pastor James Bowman and Brother, Mike Cowell officiating.
