Payne Collins, 82, of 260 Village Lake Road, Siler City died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Coventry House Of Siler City. Mr. Collins was born in Halifax County on June 30, 1929 the son of William Thomas and Hattie (Jones) Collins. He was the owner/operator of the Copper Penny Restaurant for 31 years. Payne was a member of the Piney Grove United Methodist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class and had served as chairman of the Board of Trustees. Payne enjoyed working, going for a drive, watching western movies. He was a handyman and loved cars. Payne was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Teague Collins. He is survived by his wife of 19 years: Judy (Johnson) Collins and two sons: Ronald Payne Collins and wife, Denise A. of Siler City, NC, William Randall (Randy) Collins and wife, Kathy B. of Pittsboro, NC; grandsons, Matthew Allen Collins of Siler City, NC and Jacob Thomas Collins and wife, Rosanna of Pittsboro, NC; step-son, Michael Paisley and wife, Kim of Clayton, NC. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Jim Folks officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, May 4, 2012 after the service at Piney Grove United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall for a luncheon. Please direct all food contributions to the church rather than the home. Memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City, NC 27344.
