Michael Hunter Shaffer, 51, of Silk Hope, passed away tragically Tuesday, May 12th, 2026.

He was born on January 20th, 1975, in Johnson City, TN to Michael Howard and Letitia Elaine Goltzene Shaffer.

Hunter loved and was very dedicated to his family, especially his daughter. He was a member of the Silk Hope Ruritan.

He is survived by his wife, Oceanna Maxine Rhew Shaffer and his daughter, Maxine Helen Shaffer of the home; his parents, Michael Howard and Letitia Elaine Goltzene Shaffer of Silk Hope; his brother, Stephen Shaffer of Silk Hope; his sister, Dawn Moore and her husband, Michael of Hubert, NC; many nieces, grandnieces and a grandnephew of Hubert, NC; and an extended in-law family that he was immensely grateful to become a part of.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home will be assisting the Shaffer family.
