Max Bynum Burns, 79, of DeWitt Smith Road, Pittsboro died Monday, November 27, 2017.
Mr. Burns was born in Chatham County on July 23, 1938 the son of Mark Bynum and Eula (Smith) Burns. Max was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and had worked as a barber for over 50 years. Max had also worked as a supply clerk at UNC Hospitals. He enjoyed fishing, playing music and time spent with his family, especially his grandson and great-grandson and his canine companion, Reecee.
Max was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Smith Burns and his parents.
He is survived by one daughter: Cynthia B. Stinson of Pittsboro; four grandchildren, including, grandson, Corey Burns of Pittsboro; great-grandson, Aiden Bynum Burns; special friends, Mitchell Rives of Siler City, B. J. Copeland of Pittsboro, Louie Thomas of Goldston.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 1, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 17721 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek with Rev. Darrell Garner officiating. Burial will be in Meroney United Methodist Cemetery, Bear Creek.
