With her beloved children by her side, Marion Jane Cornett passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 in Pittsboro, North Carolina. She is predeceased by her parents, Mike and Helen Martin, her husband Grady H. Cornett, Jr., and her daughter Faith Cornett. Marion was born January 29, 1927 in Endicott, New York. She raised her family in Vestal, New York, then moved to North Carolina where she worked for Wachovia Bank as a personnel manager before retiring in Siler City. Marion was the treasured wife of 68 years to her husband, Grady; the cherished mother of children Karen Cornett, Faith Cornett, Sheila Cohen (Barry), Dawn Cornett, and Grady (Deanna) Cornett; the loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Marion devoted her life to loving, supporting and caring for her family. She also loved the church and was active in United Methodist Women. Marion enjoyed playing cards, playing the organ, singing and listening to music. She was a talented knitter and crocheter and she loved making afghans for family and friends. Marion and her husband were avid RV campers who spent over 45 years camping across the United States. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 4:00 – 5:00 PM at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church with the funeral service to follow with Rev. Jason Dickerson officiating.. Burial will be in Endicott, NY. Memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 3631 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler City, NC 27344 or Community Home Care and Hospice, 108 Village Lake Road, Siler City, North Carolina 27344. Smith & Buckner Funeral Home is assisting the family.
