Obituary

Margie White Johnson, 88, of Siler City, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, at Duke University Hospital. During her illness there, family and friends showing up and calling revealed to the health care staff how special this patient was.

Margie was born in Chatham County on July 8th, 1937, to the late Thomas Taft and Lucille Bright White. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Johnson; and her brothers, Jerry and Larry White.

Margie was an exceptional person, full of wisdom that she shared in the most matter-of-fact ways. With very high standards grounded in love, she gave advice to an ever-widening circle of friends. We have personally experienced this and also heard from friends “she changed my life”. Margie was sincerely unaware of her influence; she just focused on others. She was part of a group that founded Joy Baptist Church. For the remainder of her life she was an active church member, living out her membership with action. Young and old were drawn to her love, advise, and sense of humor.

Margie loved her family, especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren unequivocally. She was known to them as Mimi, and she loved making memories with them. From the time they were born, she started investing in them and pouring love into their young lives.

Left to cherish Margie’s memory are her sons, Eric Johnson and his wife, DeAnn, their children, Sam and his wife, Natalie, Will and his fiancé, Sydney, and Matt; Brad Johnson and his wife, Emily, and their children, Caroline Strickland and her husband, Sawyer, and their daughter, Charlotte, Ben Johnson and his wife, Makala, and their children, Henry and Walker, and Dan Johnson and his wife, Megan, and their children, Lilly and Ally; her brother, Bobby Wayne White and his wife, Ann; and her sister, Letha W. Cagle and her husband, Terry.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 27th, 2026, at 11 am, at Joy Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service, and after the service the family will receive family and friends at the church. Services will be officiated by Reverend Rodney Staley (Charlie Brown).

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home will be assisting the Johnson family.
