Margaret Crutchfield White

Margaret “Peggy” Crutchfield White, 99, of Siler City, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025.

Peggy was born in Chatham County on December 4, 1926, to Charlie and Dora Hudson Crutchfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Ross White, Sr.; an infant son; 5 brothers, Lacy Crutchfield, George Crutchfield, John Crutchfield (Sadie), Tommy (Dodie) and Alfred Crutchfield; 5 sisters, Annie Shelton (Carl), Bertha Jones (Eugene), Ruby Dillion (Stan), Martha Parks (Shell), Virginia Kennedy (Sarah); brothers-in-law, William T. White, Gerald White (Laverne); sister-in-law, Martha Jane Routh (John).

Peggy lived a full life. She was a strong wonderful lady, a homemaker and professional seamstress where she would make outfits and especially bridesmaid dresses. She retired from Wrenn Memorial Library, Peggy drove the Bookmobile for several years. She later ended her retirement to go back and be a greeter at Walmart so she could talk to people. She loved to read anything she could get her hands on and spending time outside gardening. She always enjoyed making road trips to visit her daughter and granddaughter at the beach. She was fondly called Moma White by all the friends of her children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Peggy is survived by her 2 sons, Frank White, Billy White (Polly) all of Siler City; and her daughter, Kathy White of Leland, NC; grandchildren, Quent White (Jamie), Nikki White, David White, Natasha Cook (Rodney), Julie Sellers (Brian), and Kaitlyn White (Andre). She is also survived by many great grandchildren, Charlie, Jennifer, and Lila White, Lauren Kelly (Sabrina), Jordan Kelly (Kendall), Devon and Peyton Kelly, Olivia and Fisher Sellers, Madison and Piper Cook, and Andre Perkins, III; and 2 great great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Special caretaker Alice Conen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
