Margaret Butler Rakes, 79, went home to be with Jesus on October 10, 2023, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Margaret was born February 15, 1944, to Larkin W. Butler and Ruth Patterson in White County, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Reggie Rakes, daughter; Pamela Garner, granddaughter; Angela Faith, three brothers, YC Butler, Lewis Butler and Herman Butler and one sister, Mattie Sue Butler Towler. She is survived by her three children: Angela Garner of Siler City and Cameron Rakes of Polkton, and Fred Cordial of Rural Hall. She is survived by one brother; Jerry Butler (Alma Jean) of Douglasville, Georgia and one sister; Gayle Canary (Alan) of Wedowee, Alabama. There are eleven grandchildren, nineteen and a half great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
Margaret was a Sales Rep for Stanley Home Products for 40 + years. She was highly recognized in her company and was loved by all in her community. She loved to pray and loved helping her church and families in need. She loved bird and people watching, and she was passionate about her flowers.
Margaret was a member of New Day Ministries and loved her church family.
Visitation service will be Sunday, October 15th, 2023, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home. Church service will be Monday, October 16th, 2023, at 1 PM at New Day Ministries in Liberty, NC. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Park. Officiated by Reverend Michael Crigler.
