Kathleen Goldston Stout, 90, of 503 Hillcrest Ave., Goldston died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Stout was born April 18, 1921, the daughter of Albert W. and Mary (Moses) Goldston. Mrs. Stout was a native of Chatham County, retired owner of Kat's Korner in Goldston and co-owner of Goldston Lumber of Pittsboro. She was a member of Goldston United Methodist Church, the UMW, Goldston Women's Club, Goldston Rescue, Sanford Quilting Guild, and the Home Extenison Club in Pittsboro. Kathleen was very active in her church and community. She attended Peace College, majoring in Busioness. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Roy Stout, two brothers, Talmadge and Earl Goldston, and son-in-law, David Talley. She is survived by two daughters: Linda Stout Talley and fiance, Michael Fox of Carthage, NC, Brenda Stout Cook and husband, Jerry of Sanford, NC; other surviving members, Jonathan Talley of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; Kramer Talley of Carthage, NC; Mary Kathleen Talley of Goldston, NC; Ashley Beals and Whitney Beals of the home; and three great-grandchildren; Katie, Sabrina and Dasie. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 7 to 9 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Goldston United Methodist Church Cemetery, 185 Hillcrest Ave., Goldston with Rev. Thomas Simpson officiating. Memorials may be directed to Department of Social Services of Chatham and Lee Counties, to buy Christmas presents for foster children. The family wishes to thank Liberty Hospice for their loving care and also, thank Rufus Restaurant "Jane Owens" for all the food and care giving to Kathleen and the family.
