Kathleen Chapman Childress, 57, of Goldston, went to her heavenly home, Wednesday, February 14th, 2024.

Kathleen was born September 14th, 1966, to Gary Chapman and Katherine Molnar Chapman in Detroit, MI. She is preceded in death by her son, Alex Childress; her mother-in-law, Shirley Mashburn Smith; her sister-in-law, Sheila Chapman, and her nephew Michael Arcure.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, William Jay Childress; son, Matthew Justin Childress (Brittany) of Goldston; her parents, Gary & Katherine Chapman of Jamestown; three sisters, Anne Marie Arcure (Scott) of Davidson, Barbara Webb (Shane) of Hawaii, Jennifer Moore (Stephen) of Fairview; two brothers, John Chapman (Kerry) of Winston-Salem and Joseph Chapman of High Point; two sister-in-laws, Connie Thompson (Roland) of Greensboro, Sherion Campbell (Billy) of Florida; one brother-in-law, Donnie Childress of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren, Easton Childress and Hunter Grace Childress; nieces and nephews, Sean, Emma, Colin, Simon, Mary, Amber, Autumn, Jacob, Timothy, Chris, Kelly, Brian, Andrew, Hailey, Michelle, Michael, Chris, Renee, Kristi, and Dianna.

Kathleen attended Appalachian State University, graduated from UNC-G, and received her registered nursing degree from Sandhills Community College. She took her career to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital where she was a travel nurse. She loved taking care of everyone else and always put them first. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, fishing, and just spending time with her family.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 24th, 2024, at Goldston Methodist Church at 1 pm. Visitation will be from 12-1 at the church. Her service will be officiated by Pastor Kerry Wood.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Goldston Methodist Church, 185 Hillcrest Ave., Goldston, NC 27252.

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home will be assisting the Childress family.
