John Henry Tripp

John Henry Tripp, 78, of 2248 West Third Street, Siler City died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Chatham Hospital, Inc. Mr. Tripp was born August 20, 1933 the son of Robert Henry and Mildred (Bowling) Tripp. Mr. Tripp was born in Chatham County and grew up in the Merritt's Chapel community. He was a retired deputy with the Chatham County Sheriff's Department having joined in 1967. He later worked for five years with Wyser Security and retired from Lankford Security Company after seven years of service. John Henry was an honorary member of the Dig & Dream Garden Club. He loved gardening and giving the produce away. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Robert Wayne Tripp. He is survived by his wife of 35 years: Jane (Womble) Tripp, one daughter: Diane Tripp Lassiter and husband, Dickie of Chapel Hill, NC and one son: John H. Tripp, Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC; two sisters: Joyce T. Roberson of Chapel Hill, NC, Betty T. Bunker of Salisbury, NC and one brother: Donald Tripp of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Nicholas Lassiter, Robert Wayne Tripp, Jr., John Henry Tripp III, Kama Williams, April Parker and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. R. Bouldin officiating.
