John Ross Dowdy, Jr., 77, of Siler City, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2022.

Mr. Dowdy was born in Chatham County on May 28, 1944, the son of the late John Ross Dowdy, Sr. and Larzelle Tysor Dowdy.

John grew up attending Roberts Chapel Baptist Church in Goldston. He spent his working years as a Machine Operator for Ramtex, Inc. John loved cooking and was always telling colorful stories. He loved his family very much. John spent his free time at home watching Westerns, Nascar, sports and anything that came on the National Geographic Channel.

He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Diane Dowdy of High Point, Lura Broadie and husband Robert of High Point; sons, Jeffrey Dowdy (Kizzy Shoffner) of Siler City, and Roy Dowdy and wife Jamie of Charlotte; brothers, James Wallace Dowdy and wife Marie of Goldston; sisters, Jean Carolyn Brown and husband Richard of Goldston, Sylvia Dowdy of Charlotte, Patricia Hicklen and husband Nicholeon of Charlotte, Kathy Dunlap and husband Vernon of Charlotte, and Susan Medlin and husband Gene of Charlotte; grandchildren, Tristan and Jeremy Johnson, Micah Dowdy, and Ryan and Darius Broadie; great grandchildren, Tiara, Zaylan, Treasure, and Tamara Johnson, and Avah, Ari and Oshea Broadie. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 1:00-4:00 PM at 1736 St. Luke Church Road, Goldston, NC 27252.
