Joe Vivian Harris

Joe Vivian Harris, 85, of Siler City died Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Mr. Harris was born in Stanly County on July 3, 1931 the son of Reid Roy and Vera Mae (Shepherd) Harris. Joe was an Army veteran, a member of First Baptist Church of Siler City and was retired from Collins & Aikman after 30 years of service. Joe was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raeford, William, Vernon and Herman Harris and a grandson, Daniel Hall. He is survived by his wife: Norma (Tanner) Harris; sons: Perry Harris and wife, Claire of North Carolina, Dwight Hall of Yadkinville; daughter, Maria Burke and husband, Mike of Bear Creek;one sister: Sylvia Boggs and husband, Ronnie of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jennifer Sanders and husband, Ryan, Ashley Ellis and husband, Neil, Dylan, Malaya and Melina Hall, Erin and Emilie Burke, Christopher Neal; great-granddaughter, his namesake, Vivian K. Sanders and several special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 12:00 NOON at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City.
