Obituary

Jesse Thomas Baird, 84, of Siler City, died Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at his home.

Jesse was born in Harnett County on July 4, 1941, to Benjamin Dewey and Lossie Aileen Williams Baird. Jesse was preceded in death by his parent; his wives, Hazel C. Baird, Birtie L. Baird, and Jean L. Baird; brothers, Henry Baird and JB Baird. Jesse was a hard worker, he loved to remodel houses in retirement, after a career of 30 plus years of building highway bridges. He was always proud of the fact that he built the longest single span bridge in North Carolina. It is located over Hwy 301 North of Wilson. He loved his family.

Jesse is survived by his son, Larry Baird (Sydney) of Siler City; daughter, Jacquelyn B. Loyd of Siler City; brother, Danny Baird of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Stephanie Smith (Corey) of Gibsonville and Jake Loyd of Siler City; step-grandchildren, Ryan Wright (Valerie) of Staley, Reggie Wright (Sandra) of Ramseur, and Christie McDaniel (Jim) of Ramseur.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Community Baptist Church at noon. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. with Rev. Mark Agan officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

The family is requesting in lieu of flowers; donations be made to St Judes https://www.stjude.org/donate.
