James Robert Phillips

James Robert Phillips, 87, of formerly of Bear Creek died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Magnolia House, Sanford. Mr. Phillips was born in Chatham County on October 2, 1929 the son of James Rubin and Annie (Hough) Phillips. James was a member of Meroney United Methodist Church and a retired truck driver for the US Postal Service. He was preceded in death by a son, James Gregory Phillips; his parents; brothers, Vernie and Raymond Phillips. He is survived by niece, Sharon Trotter and husband, Charles of Goldston; grandchildren, J. R., Brittany and Renee; special friends, Christy and Steve Woody and their daughter, Leandra The family will receive friends Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Meroney United Methodist Church, 10568 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek. A graveside service will follow Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jim Whittaker officiating.
