J. B. Oldham, Jr.

J. B. "Monk" Oldham, Jr., 71, of Henry Oldham Road, Bear Creek died Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford. Mr. Oldham was born in Lee County on April 11, 1941 the son of James Berry Oldham, Sr. and Mary Frances (Poe) Oldham. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church, enjoyed farming and being outdoors. Monk hauled grain for G & N Trucking and he also had worked for Southern Wood Piedmont. He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Alca (Fogleman) Oldham, one daughter: Jill Oldham Gilliland and two sons: Jeffrey B. Oldham, Joel K. Oldham all of Bear Creek, NC; one brother: Robert L. "Shorty" Oldham of Bear Creek, NC and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Antioch Christian Church, 246 Antioch Christian Church Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Clark Davis, Rev. Michael Harper, Rev. Jack Phillips and Ritchie Nall officiating. Burial will follow in the Oldham Family Cemetery, Henry Oldham Road, Bear Creek. Memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
