Frances Irene Edwards White, 96, of Siler City, went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025, at the Siler City Center.
Irene was born on September 30th, 1928, in Chatham County, to the late Fred & Mattie McKeithan Edwards. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James T. White, and her daughter, Kay W. Purcell, three brothers and one infant brother, one sister, and her daughter-in-law, Dot Garner White.
She was a member of Oakley Baptist Church where she was a teacher, she attended the Senior Ladies Sunday School class, and she enjoyed reading her Bible. Irene liked to do crossword puzzles and grow her flowers. She was a former member of the WMU and the Church choir. She retired from the John Plant in Ramseur where she worked as a machine operator. Irene loved going to the mountains and to the beach. She liked to go shopping and cooking for her family. She is survived by her sons, Roger D. White and his wife, Judy of Siler City, and Tommy D. White of Asheboro; four grandchildren, Jamie White, Doug White and his wife, Tammy, Vickie Bailey and her husband, Jerry, and Randy White; close friend, Sandy Dixon; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Oakley Baptist church cemetery fund or Liberty Home Care and Hospice.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 17th, 2025, at 2 pm, at Oakley Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Johnson officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Irene will lie in repose Saturday, August 16th, 2025, from 1 – 5 pm, at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home.
Smith & Buckner Funeral Home will be assisting the White family.
