Henry “Hank” Descent, 59, of Siler City, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Hank was born on December 16, 1965, in Summit County, Ohio, to the late Louie A. and Virginia M. Emmerick Descent.
For 20 years, Hank worked as a monument installer at Chatham Monument Company in Siler City, where he took great pride in his craftsmanship and service to others. He was an avid fisherman, a devoted Carolina Hurricanes fan, and could always be counted on to start up a good card game. Hank was the first to lend a hand to anyone in need and never met a stranger.
He loved taking family trips to Emerald Isle, especially crabbing with his niece and nephews. Hank lived a simple, meaningful life centered around his family. He especially cherished his wife of 36 years, Dana, always keeping her as his top priority.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dana Stout Descent, and their fur baby, Princess; his dear "Mom & Pops," Mary Lee and Tommy Savage; his sister, Debbie Romberger; his brother, Lou Descent; and his nieces and nephews in Ohio who affectionately called him “Mononcle”: Josh, Krista, Gary, Louie, and Kaitlyn. He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Kristy Phillips (Burl) and Susie Davis (Chris), and his brother-in-law, Scott Savage (Mel). He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews Marshall Pickett (Austin), Miller and Mason Phillips, Dawson and Ava Davis, and Lila, Susanna, and Hill Savage.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Rocky River Baptist Church, with Pastor Jason Dickerson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church from 2:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mitch Dorsett, Jason White, Trini Huebenthal, Ben Vitaro, and Harold Maines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rocky River Baptist Church, 4436 Siler City Snow Camp Rd., Siler City, NC 27344.
