Helen Brooks Roberts

Helen Dark Brooks Roberts, 96, of Charlotte, formerly of Bonlee, died Monday, February 13, 2017. Mrs. Roberts was born in Chatham County on January 11, 1921 the daughter of Archie Rufus and Emma Dark Brooks. She was a member of Bonlee Baptist Church and retired from Moore's Department Store after 23 years of service. Helen had been a volunteer with the Chatham Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Brush Creek Home Makers Club. She enjoyed reading, sewing and cooking. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Howard Foy Roberts; brothers, Stroud and Ralph Brooks; sisters, Kathleen Hackney and Dale Andrews She is survived by one son: Howard Michael Roberts of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Polly Brooks and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 11:00 – 12:00 Noon at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at Bonlee Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Williams and Rev. Brandon Dobson officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Bonlee.
