George Washington Burke

George W. "G.W." Burke, 85, of Bear Creek died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Burke was born October 17, 1932 the son of Cullum King Burke and Mary Elizabeth Fields Burke. Mr. Burke was an Army veteran, retired from Townsend Poultry as a Supervisor, farmer, and was a self-employed dry wall contractor. G. W. was a member of Sandy Branch Baptist Church. He loved flying, RV camping with the camping group, enjoyed time with family, going to school events for his grandchildren and enjoyed time with his great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Paul Burke Petty.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Christine Wicker Burke, daughter: Regina Burke Miller and husband, John of Carolina Lakes, and son: Gregory W. Burke and wife, Linda of Bear Creek, brother: Daniel Burke and wife, Faye of Bear Creek, grandchildren: John Burke Miller and wife, Jessica of Carolina Lakes, Jeremy Howe Miller and wife, Heather of S.E. Yelm, WA, great-grandchildren, Alexandria B. Miller, John B. Miller, and Elizabeth G. Miller.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, 715 Sandy Branch Church Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Marc Sanders and the Rev. Rob Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends after the service in the church Activity Building.
