Obituary

Patricia Gayle Teague Black, 80, of Siler City, died Thursday, October 8, 2026, surrounded by her family at the Laurels of Chatham.

Gayle was born in Chatham County on October 7, 1946, to the late Mary Edith Lindley and Thomas Taylor Teague. She was a hard-working lady who was a cosmetologist for many years before becoming a bank head teller. She enjoyed volunteer work. Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Floyd Ronald “Ronnie” Black, and sisters, Elaine T. Gaines and Martha T. Curry.

Gayle is survived by her sons, Darrell Black, of Holly Springs, Steven Black and wife, Amy of Siler City, and Chris Black and wife, Courtney of Liberty; grandchildren, Katie Black (Derek), Aaron Black (Jennifer), Avery Andrews and Evan Andrews; great granddaughter, Natalie; and sister, Shelby T. Wilson and husband, Hoyt of Robbins.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Rocky River Baptist Church, 4436 Siler City Snow Camp Road, Siler City, NC 27344; from 2:00 - 3:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at 3:00 PM with the burial following in the church cemetery with Rev. Jason Dickerson officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Rocky River Baptist Church General Fund at 4436 Siler City Snow Camp Road, Siler City, NC 27344.
