Frank Lee Fox

Frank Lee Fox, 88 of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022.  Graveside service will be held on December 17, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Rocky River Baptist Church cemetery in Siler City, North Carolina. 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Siler City, NC 27344.

Born on September 5, 1934 in Sanford, NC and moved to Siler city with his family at the age of three.  Lee attended Siler City Schools and in 1952 graduated from Siler City High School.  Lee graduated in 1956 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Lee remained a loyal Tar Heel fan throughout his life.  In recent years, meeting at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, he participated in periodic reunions with a group of friends from college.  Lee was a lifetime member of the UNC Alumni Association and the UNC Living Legends.  

After college, Lee working for the Domestic Relations Court in Greensboro, NC for nine years, as Chief Probation Officer.  During this time, Lee also served in the Army National Guard.  In 1965, Lee joined Kellwood Company in Siler City as plant personnel manager.  He was transferred to the company headquarters in St. Louis, MO and held various division and group positions until he retired in 1995.  At the time of his retirement he was corporate vice president of human resources.  Upon retirement Lee and his family relocated to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and subsequently moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC. in 2002 where he resided until his death. 

Lee was a member of Siler City Rotary Club. He was chairman of the human resources committee of the American Apparel Manufacturers Association, board member of the St. Louis West County YMCA, and a member of the Hilton Head Island Power and Sail Squadron. Lee was a previous member of The First United Methodist Church in Siler City and a member of The Isle of Palms Methodist Church at the time of his death.

Lee had an infectious laugh and smile. When spending time in his beloved home town of Siler City, NC he loved visiting with friends and telling jokes at Scooter’s Cafe and the Farmer’s Alliance Store in Siler City.  Lee also enjoyed international and domestic travel with his family. While living in Mount Pleasant, SC he loved hanging out and telling stories at Jeff’s barbershop. He was a people person that never met a stranger. Lee was a kind and honorable man who loved his family fiercely.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents: Lewis Hurley Fox and Sallie Harris Fox, his sister Dorothy Fox Teague, and nephew Alan Teague.  Lee is survived by his wife, Martha Foster Fox, son Lewis J. Fox II (Kelly), daughter Susan Fox Cox (Vance), grandson Evan Wycoff, granddaughter Kenleigh Wycoff Edwards (Colby), niece Pamela Teague Holloway (the late, Paul), and great granddaughter Sawyer Brown.
