Siler City
Wednesday
First United Methodist Church
Starts at 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
Frank G. “Gib” Brooks III, 68, of Siler City, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born January 23, 1958, he was the son of the late Yank and Lou Brooks.
Gib graduated from Jordan-Matthews High School in 1976, where he was an outstanding third baseman and nose tackle. He later attended Lenoir-Rhyne College and spent more than 40 years working with Chatham Foods and Brookwood Farms.
Known affectionately to his family as “Uncle G,” Gib was generous, hardworking, loyal, and deeply devoted to his family. He was a constant presence and, in many ways, the glue that held his family together. He shared an especially close bond with his niece, Sarah, and adored her daughter, Mary.
Gib is survived by his siblings, Leah Brooks Kearney of Carpinteria, California; Bill Brooks and Lisa Brooks Morse, both of Siler City; his niece, Sarah Mitchum (Nathan), and their daughter, Mary Ryan, of Graham; along with extended family and many dear friends, including longtime friends Chris Hughes and Clint Fields.
Gib will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of Gib's life will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 2:00PM, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Kyle Borrows officiating.
In lieu of flowers or food, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Gib’s memory through the St. Jude donation page.
The family respectfully requests continued prayers along with privacy at their home during this time. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at First United Methodist Church to share memories of Gib and enjoy light refreshments.
