Fay Dean Williamson Womble, 83, of Siler City died Monday, October 31, 2011 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, NC. Fay Dean was born in Alamance County on October 20, 1928, the daughter of Lendo F. and Adele (Nance) Williamson. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jake, Simon and Charles.
Fay Dean is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lynton Womble and a brother, Jerry Williamson (Elaine) of Haw River and several nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Alexander Wilson High School and Elon College and had a very successful career as a secretary for the Employment Security Commission with the State of North Carolina for 39 years. An active member of Loves Creek Baptist Church for 59 years, she served as a primary children's Sunday School teacher, worked in the nursery, participated on the Benevolence committee and was serving as church treasurer at the time of her death.
Fay Dean was most proud of her long and happy marriage to Lynton. She often said she loved him from the first time that she saw him. She was a very generous, supportive and loving aunt to her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Family was very important to her. Fay Dean loved to laugh, loved the beach, enjoyed sewing, puzzles and playing Rook with friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Thursday, November, 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Loves Creek Baptist Church, 1745 East 11th Street, Siler City with Rev. Bob Boyd, Rev. J. R. Bouldin and Rev. Roy Helms officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
