Evelyn Milligan Cartrette, 98, of Fuquay Varina formally of Siler City, died Friday, June 19, 2026.

Evelyn was born one of 13 children in Columbus County on August 5, 1927, to Erico Verona and Annie Jane Ward Milligan. She was a devout Christian lady who deeply loved her Lord. She was always singing Christian music. Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and sharing her delicious cooking.

She is survived by her children, Eddie Cartrette and wife, Judi, along with their 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; Charles Cartrette, and his 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; Darryl Cartrette and wife, Sherry, along with their 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and Pam Cartrette Ritter and husband, David and their 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents and her 12 siblings; her loving husband, Charles Howard Cartrette Sr. and their infant son, Charles Ernest Cartrette, her daughter-in-law, Teri Cartrette; and her beloved grandchildren, Jill Smith and Jeremy Bass.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Oakley Baptist Church Cemetery, at 11:00 AM.

The family request in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Oakley Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
