Eugene Bryan Marley, Jr., 75, of Siler City passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Mr. Marley was born in Chatham County on January 18, 1946 the son of Eugene B. Marley, Sr. and Dorothy Richey Marley.
Eugene was an Air Force Veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Siler City and God's Acres Baptist in Indiana. He also ran an annual fishing tournament and was a past Board member of the Foxwood Hills Community Association in Indiana. Eugene was a lifetime member of the American Legion in IN, as well as the Ruritan Club in Silk Hope, NC. Eugene was a world traveler and enjoyed spending time swimming and hiking. He loved photography, especially pictures of flowers and getting to go out on the boat fishing whenever possible. Eugene never met a stranger and enjoyed helping his kids and family. In addition to his parents, Eugene is preceded in death by his son, David Eugene McCarty; and brother Dan Riffle.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Barbara Northern Marley; daughters, Cara Marley-Woozley, Virginia Werner and husband Michael of Mishawaka, IN, Cyndi Presnell and husband Brian of Lakeville, IN, Rita Reed and husband Larry of South Bend, IN, Edie Walker and husband Steve of Niles, MI, Laura Schaffert of Niles, MI and Ellen Grattenthaler and husband Shawn of Elkhart, IN; sons, Chad Marley and wife Sydnei of New Port Richey, FL, John McCarty and wife Dawn of Elkhart, IN and Phillip Northern and wife Anita of South Bend, IN; sisters, Carol Miller and husband Michael of Mishawaka, IN and Mary Plasterer and husband Scott of Elkhart, IN; sister in law, Teresa Riffle of Mishawaka, IN; a host of nieces and nephews and adopted grandchildren; 39 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Faith Baptist Church, 303 Hillbrook Blvd., Siler City with Rev. Bobby Shutt officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, N. Chatham Ave., Siler City.
