Earl Edward Short, 88, of Siler City went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Short was born December 30, 1923 the son of Lacy Herbert and Daisy (Johnson) Short. Earl was a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church, a Navy Veteran of WWII and retired as a teacher from the Chatham County Schools. Earl was preceded in death by a son, Steve Short and wife, Judy and their daughter, Ashley. He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Hilda (Kennedy) Short; one daughter: Dale Short Kiser and husband, Larry of Kingsport, TN; one sister: Josephine S. Pike of Siler City, NC; grandchildren, Wendy McConnell and husband, Tim, Sophie Noble and husband, Israel and great-grandchildren, Abby, Jenna and Brooke McConnell. The family will receive friends Friday, August 17, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Loves Creek Baptist Church, 1745 East 11th Street, Siler City with Rev. Bob Boyd and Rev. Tony Capehart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Loves Creek Baptist Church,1745 East 11th Street, Siler City, NC 27344, First Baptist Church, 314 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344 or UNC Hospice, PO Box 1077, Pittsboro, NC 27312.
