Charles Luther Spivey, Sr.

Charles Luther Spivey, Sr., 73 of Pittsboro, NC passed away October 2, 2011 after a valiant fight with cancer. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen Stamey Spivey of the home; sons, Chuck (Kim) of Siler City, Eddie (Jeannie) of Asheboro, and two granddaughters; siblings, David, Peggy, Faye, Janice, Linda and Nancy all of Buncombe County. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. A. and Annie Pruett Spivey. Charles was a loving husband, father and granddad. His family was the love of his life. He was a faithful member of the Pittsboro Church of the Nazarene, retired from Acme-McCrary in Asheboro, NC and a US Army Veteran. After retirement he enjoyed farming and traveling. The family will receive friends Monday October 3, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. Other times at the family home. The funeral will be 11:00 AM Tuesday October 4, 2011 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Ward officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Charlotte.
