Bruce Landon Clark, 91, of Siler City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
Bruce was born on December 17, 1934, in Chatham County to the late Margaret Jane Clark Thrift.
A devout Christian and member of Piney Grove Methodist Church where he served in many roles. He was owner of Clark’s Septic Tank Service for close to 60 years and was still actively involved in the business at the time of his death. Bruce devoted more than 50 years of service to the Siler City Fire Department of which he served as treasurer for 40 years. In recognition of his outstanding service, he was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Governor Pat McCroy in 2015, one of North Carolina’s highest civilian honors.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his brother, Charles Clark, and the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Mattie Keck Clark.
He is survived by his three sons, Mike Clark and wife Ann, Tony Clark and wife Ginger, and Mark Clark and wife Angie, all of Siler City. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Kelly Clark and wife Rebekah, Ashley Wood and husband Burton, Jessica Blakley and husband Brandon, Trey Clark, Holly Felder and husband Will, and Marcy Clark. Along with 5 great grandchildren Quinn Wood, Saylor Clark, Beau Blakley, Magnolia Blakley, and Georgia Kate Blakley. Bruce is also survived by siblings O.D. Thrift, Betty Wilborn, and Jenny Lee (Ronnie) King all of Saxapahaw, and Kay (Charles) Dean of Universal City, Texas.
The family will receive friends Thursday September 3, 2026, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at Piney Grove Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The funeral will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Piney Grove Methodist Church with Rev. Herbert Lowry, Pastor Steve Moore, and Pastor Andreas Kjernald officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Piney Grove Methodist Church Cemetery fund at P.O. Box 9, Siler City, NC 27344.
