Barbara Holt Boone, 90, of Pine Avenue, Siler City, died suddenly on Sunday, January 25th, 2026, at her home.

Mrs. Boone was born in Chatham County on June 19th, 1935, the daughter of Wade and Dorothy Holt.

She was employed 34 years by Byrds Foods and after retirement worked part time as a Daycare Assistant at Wescare Daycare and Write Beginnings Daycare. She loved working with the children and enjoyed seeing them as adults. They always recognized Mrs. Barbara, and she enjoyed their hugs and memories. Mrs. Boone loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, watching her son, Dennis preaching, and his wife, Jill, singing and playing the piano and organ. She loved to travel and was blessed to play any musical instrument by ear. She loved Christian music, TV game shows, and even was in televised audience of The Price is Right in California with Bob Barker Several years ago. She also loved to read and do puzzle search books.

Mrs. Boone was preceded in death by her husband, William Boone of 61 years in 2015, infant son, William Womble Boone, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Jill Rickman Boone in 2022, her parents, and five brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Poe and her husband, Mike; her son, Tony Boone and wife, Penny C. Boone; and son, Dennis Boone; her sisters, Kathryn Powers, Brenda Duncan, and Sandra Moody; her sisters-in-law, Rachel Holt, and Kay Holt; her grandchildren, Michael Boone and his wife, Angela, Mitchell Boone and his wife, Emily, Melissa Poe Parks and her husband, Preston, Casey Biggs and his wife, Karen, Dillon Boone and his wife, Kristie, Tony Michael Boone II, and Jesse Boone; her great grandchildren, Ella Ruth Parks, Tommy Parks, William Boone, Emorie Boone, Aubrey Boone, Riley Biggs, Morgan Biggs, Griffin Biggs, Penelope Boone, Henry Boone, Wilson Boone, and another grandson Boone due April 6th on Grandmother Jill’s birthday; and her aunt, Ruby Holt.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 30th, 2026, at 2 pm, at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home chapel. A visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm at the chapel. Burial will follow at Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Reverend Doctor Dennis Boone.
